Use AI to Help Create a Masterclass or Webinar

There's high demand for ways to build a better masterclass or webinar. With the advent of many new AI tools there are several ways to use AI to help create a masterclass or webinar.

The use of virtual events like masterclasses and webinars to connect with one's audience, build brands, and grow a business has been happening for many years, even before the 2020 pandemic. As web conferencing platforms have matured, their use is continuing to grow.

Despite their continued and increased use, the biggest complaints of masterclasses and webinars:

  • They provide little value
  • Recycled opinions, points of view, etc.
  • Just an extended pitch-fest
  • Presenters are boring and sound too scripted

With widely available generative AI tools like OpenAI’s ChatGPT, they provide immense opportunities for us to save time and create better webinars and masterclasses. Let’s look at specific ways you can use AI for different aspect of creating a masterclass or webinar.

Planning and Preparing with AI

There are four ways in the masterclass and webinar planning and preparation stage I recommend using when thinking about how to use AI to help create a masterclass or webinar.

Topic Identification

Depending on which tool you use, most large generative AI tools like ChatGPT 4, Google Gemini (used to be Bard), and Perplexity have access to Internet content that includes data related to search trends, social media activity, and industry news. Prompting the tool to generate a list of trending topics within your niche or industry can spark ideas for a masterclass or webinar that folks are interested in attending.

Scroll Stopping Titles

Once you've identified a trend, it is quick and easy to have the AI tool generate potential titles. It is important though to make sure you provide information like your target audience and specifications like tone of voice. This will increase the likelihood that the titles are relatable to your audience and better represent your style.

Content Structure

One of the most time-consuming aspects of creating a masterclass or webinar, is figuring out what content to include and how to organize it. Generative AI tools excel at helping with the outlining process and recommending a unique content to include.

Audience Engagement Strategies

If you ever worry that your masterclasses or webinars are boring, ensuring you integrate audience engagement strategies is a key aspect to counter that scenario. In my free guide, I provide several options. However, AI tools can help you brainstorm different engagement strategies. It can even provide drafts of questions or prompts to use during your presentation.

Create Visuals with AI

While having high quality content is paramount and should always take precedence over your visuals, these are still important to help convey your message. A great way to use AI to help create a masterclass or webinar is to leverage their ability to generate unique, one-of-a-kind images and other visuals.

Slide Decks

AI slide deck generating tools have been around for several years. One of the earliest was Beautiful.ai which launched in the mid-2010s. And many more followed. Check out these two review articles from FlexOS and Unite.ai. With greater access to the large generative AI tools, the number of tools will continue to increase. I've found for the best results you do need to have a solid outline to create a high quality deck. Also, most of optimal editing tools within these platforms require a paid subscription.

If you are just looking for high quality visuals to accompany your content, the are a variety of free and paid image generating options. The two most cited are DALL-E 2 from OpenAI and MidJourney. Check out ZDNet's review article on the best image generators for 2024. In my experimentation with these tools, having a crystal-clear prompt and being conscious of word choice is important especially if you want photo-like images.

Do's and Don'ts for Using AI

Like any tool it is important to know it's limitations. Remember, you are the voice of your coaching business and it is up to you to take the generated content and breathe life into it.

  • Consider the AI tools as assistants, not a replacement
  • To get the best results, experiment and test your prompts
  • Understand what security protocols are in place

  • Neglect human oversight of generated content
  • Forget to review and fact check what has been generated by the tool
  • Ever share sensitive information (it becomes part of the tool)

Final Thoughts

Virtual events like masterclasses and webinars are an excellent strategy for you to connect with your audience, share your knowledge and expertise, and highlight your coaching services and programs. They allow you to build your brand and grow your business.

AI tools can help you save time by helping you quickly generate the different aspects of your masterclass or webinar like topic ideas, outlines, audience engagement, and visuals. Giving you the opportunity to focus on what you do best -- sharing value in an authentic way.

Remember, though that IA isn't perfect. Consider how you might use AI to help create a masterclass or webinar. Make sure as you are using the tools, know their limitations and that they don't understand the nuances of human emotions and psychology.

The work you do before using the tools like being crystal clear on your target audience, knowing their biggest struggles and dreams, and testing prompts, will help you produce results more efficiently. It's best to view AI as an excellent virtual assistant but not the end all, be all expert or authority.
